Who we are
GoalBuddy is built by Luxford Interactive. If you have any question about this policy or your data, contact us at hello@goalbuddy.co.uk.
What we collect
We only collect what's needed to run the app: match you with the right people, keep the community safe, and let you talk to people you've connected with.
Information you give us
- Account details: email address (or a phone number, if you sign up that way) and password.
- Profile information: display name, date of birth, gender, up to three profile photos, a short biography, and answers to a few "story prompts."
- Goals and activities: what you're looking for -- e.g. "gym buddy, mornings, 3x a week" -- including category, availability, and any free-text description you write.
- Location: your postcode (Goal mode) or current location (Activity mode). We only ever show other users an approximate area derived from this -- your exact postcode or coordinates are never shown to anyone else.
- Messages: the content of conversations with people you've connected with, including any photos you send in a message.
Information collected automatically
- Device and push notification token, so we can send you notifications you've opted into (e.g. someone waved at you).
- Basic usage and error data, to keep the app working and fix bugs.
How we use it
- To show you compatible matches and show your profile to compatible matches.
- To let you message people once you've both agreed to connect.
- To send account emails (confirming your email, password resets) and, if you've opted in, push notifications.
- To keep the community safe -- investigating reports, blocks, and misuse.
- To fix bugs and improve the app.
We do not use your data to serve third-party advertising, and we do not sell your data to anyone.
What other users can see
Other users see your display name, age (not your date of birth), profile photos, biography, story prompt answers, your approximate area, and the goals/activities you've chosen to make visible. They never see your email address, phone number, exact postcode, or date of birth.
Who we share data with
We use a small number of service providers to run GoalBuddy. They only ever process your data to provide their service to us -- they don't use it for their own purposes.

We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the safety of our users.
How long we keep your data
We keep your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account -- either in the app (Profile → Settings → Delete account) or at account.goalbuddy.co.uk if you no longer have the app installed -- your profile, goals, messages, and photos are anonymised or removed. This isn't instant; it's processed securely shortly after your request.
Your rights
You can access and update most of your information directly in the app. You can also:
- Ask us what data we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct inaccurate data.
- Ask us to delete your data (see above).

Age requirement
GoalBuddy is for adults aged 16 and over. We check date of birth at sign-up and don't allow accounts for anyone under 16.
Security
Your data is stored with Supabase, using row-level security so that, at the database level, you can only ever access data you're actually allowed to see. No system is 100% secure, but we take reasonable, industry-standard steps to protect your information.
This website
goalbuddy.co.uk does not use analytics or advertising cookies. It loads fonts from Google Fonts, which may receive your IP address as a normal part of that request. If you join our launch list, we store the email address you provide so we can email you when GoalBuddy launches, and nothing else.
Changes to this policy
If we make significant changes to this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, let you know in the app.
